Depression therapy in Longwood, FL

When “off” has become the baseline and you can’t remember when it started. We work on getting movement back into a life that has quietly contracted.

Not sad, exactly. Flat.

Depression doesn’t always look like crying. More often it looks like a life that has slowly gotten smaller: fewer plans, less energy, a fog that makes ordinary tasks feel enormous, and a running commentary that says none of it matters anyway. From the outside, you may look fine. Inside, you’re running on fumes that are running out.

If that’s familiar, the fact that you’re reading this is a good sign. Something in you still wants it to be different.

What depression therapy looks like here

We see teens and adults from Longwood, Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs and across Seminole County in person, and by telehealth anywhere in Florida. The work is practical and it starts small: getting a little movement back into the week, in steps deliberately sized so you can actually take them. Alongside that, we work on the thought patterns that keep the floor low, the inner critic, and — when low mood traces back to something that happened — the thing that happened, using EMDR when it fits.

We’re not going to hand you a worksheet and tell you to think positive. We’re going to be in it with you, and we’ll be honest about what we see.

FAQ

Common questions

How is depression different from a rough patch?

Duration and reach. A rough patch responds to rest, a good week, or a change in circumstances. Depression stays — weeks, not days — and reaches into everything: sleep, appetite, concentration, the ability to enjoy things you used to, the sense that any of it matters. If “off” has become your baseline and you can’t remember when it started, it’s worth talking to someone.

Do you prescribe medication?

No — we’re counselors, not prescribers. If medication might help, we’ll say so and coordinate with your physician or a psychiatrist. Many people do well with therapy alone; some do best with both. We’ll work with whatever you decide.

What approaches help with depression?

Behavioral activation (getting movement back into a life that has contracted, in small deliberate steps), CBT for the thought patterns that keep the floor low, ACT for making room for hard feelings without letting them decide everything, IFS for the inner critic, and EMDR when the low mood traces back to something that happened.

How long does treatment take?

Most people notice something shifting within the first six to eight weeks of consistent work, and have real ground under them within three to four months. Depression that has been around for years, or that sits on top of trauma, takes longer. We’ll tell you what we think after the first session or two.

Can I do this online?

Yes — secure video anywhere in Florida, which matters on the days when leaving the house feels like too much.

What does it cost?
