Couples counseling in Longwood, FL
You keep having the same argument in slightly different words. We work on the pattern underneath it — how each of you protects yourself, what gets heard, and what never quite gets said.
The argument underneath the argument
Most couples don’t have dozens of problems. They have one or two patterns that show up wearing dozens of costumes: the dishes, the in-laws, the phone, the money. The content changes; the choreography doesn’t. One of you moves toward the problem to fix it, the other moves away to keep the peace, and each of you experiences the other’s move as proof of the thing you were afraid of.
Couples counseling is where you get to see the choreography from the outside — and then change it.
What couples work looks like here
Both of our counselors work with couples, at our Longwood office and by video anywhere in Florida; we’ll match you with whoever fits your situation and schedule. The first session is the two of you and the pattern: what happens, in what order, and what each of you is protecting when it does. From there, the work is practical. Slowing the cycle down enough to say the thing underneath. Learning to hear what your partner means rather than the worst version of what they said. Rebuilding trust in specific, observable ways rather than promises.
Nobody is the identified patient. The pattern is.
Who we see
- Couples in recurring conflict who are tired of the loop.
- Premarital couples who’d rather talk about money, family and expectations before the wedding than after.
- Couples rebuilding trust after a breach.
- Intercultural couples and couples where family expectations weigh on the relationship. South Asian therapy.
- Couples where ADHD or anxiety is in the mix — where one partner has become the project manager. How ADHD shows up in relationships.
- Couples deciding whether to stay together, and wanting to do it honestly.
Why the fee is flat. Insurance rarely covers couples counseling, because it isn’t treatment of a diagnosed individual. Rather than pretend otherwise, we priced couples work at $200 per session with no diagnosis required. Sessions typically run longer than an individual session. A sliding scale is available by application.

This might be you if

- One of you pushes to resolve it; the other shuts down to survive it
- You feel more like roommates or co-managers than partners
- Trust took a hit and you don’t know how to rebuild it
- Family — yours or theirs — has a seat at the table whether invited or not
- You’re deciding whether to get married, or whether to stay

FAQ
Common questions
Does insurance cover couples counseling?
Usually not. Most plans only reimburse psychotherapy tied to a diagnosis for one identified patient, and couples work doesn’t fit that box. That’s why we built a flat fee for it: $200 per session, no diagnosis required, and no surprise denial three months in. If your plan does reimburse family therapy codes, we’ll give you a superbill to try.
How long are sessions and what do they cost?
Couples sessions are $200 and typically run longer than an individual session; we’ll confirm the length when you book. A sliding scale is available by application.
Do you see unmarried or premarital couples?
Yes. Dating, engaged, married, long-term partners, and couples deciding whether to stay together. Premarital work is some of the most useful counseling there is, precisely because nothing is on fire yet.
What if my partner is reluctant?
Common, and workable. Reluctance is usually fear of being blamed. In the first session we make clear that nobody is the identified problem; the pattern between you is. Many reluctant partners relax within one or two sessions once they see that. If your partner won’t come at all, individual work on your side of the pattern still changes the relationship.
Do you do online couples sessions?
Yes, anywhere in Florida, as long as you’re both in a private space — together or on separate screens.
What approach do you use with couples?
We work on the pattern underneath the argument: how each of you protects yourself under stress, what gets heard versus what gets said, and the needs that never quite make it into words. That draws on attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches, with practical communication work you can use the same week. When one partner’s ADHD or anxiety is part of the loop, we work with that directly rather than around it; when family — including extended family — has a seat at the table, we’re used to that too.
